Lefebvre
– Work and Leisure in Everyday Life
Work leads us to seek escape from the monotony of daily life through ‘leisure’.
Lefebvre sees acts of leisure as distractions that become a form of
compensation for our monotonous work. Considering this, it is clear that Leisure
cannot be separated from work. He says, “we work to earn leisure and leisure
has only one meaning to get away from work”. But is leisure even possible under
contemporary capitalism, and given the contemporary nature of work?
These themes are central to our project and therefore our essay – Lefebvre will
come in very handy when writing the latter.
today was great!
